Community Gardens

We have received a significant number of inquiries regarding garden plots and anticipate that the 2026 season will sell out.

To cover community garden expenses such as, water, tools, maintenance, supplies and labour, your cost is only $100 per standard plot, $150 per large plot for the entire 2026 season. The On The Hill Community Gardens Plot Reservation Form is below.

Guidelines

  1. Please read bulletin boards regularly for news updates.
  2. If at anytime during the season you decide to stop using your plot, please let us know. Instead of letting your plot go fallow we’ll plant community vegetables.
  3. Tend your plot and the nearby pathways often. Please weed the pathways beside your plots
  4. Pick up litter when you see it and place in either blue boxes or garbage cans.
  5. Put dead plants or leaves into the compost bin. (do not put any seeds or weed roots in compost)
  6. Any diseased plants and seedy or invasive weeds need to be bagged and put in the trash, so they do not invade the garden.
  7. Turn off water at source when you are done and roll up hoses.
  8. Automate watering systems are not permitted.
  9. Clean & return tools to the tool area once done.
  10. We are striving to keep the gardens as organic as possible. The use of Pesticides or Herbicides is not permitted.
  11. If you are needing soil or fertilizer, please bring it yourself
  12. Be mindful of safety.
    - Always supervise children in the garden.
    - Garden during daylight hours only.
    - Garden with others or bring a cell phone to stay safe.
  13. Do not use any outside location as a latrine. There are facilities at the church.
  14. Do not use the ponds in the TWIN PONDS (centre of the garden) area for washing hands or tools.
  15. Respect other gardeners and neighbours.
    - Do not work in another person's plot without their approval.
    - Plant tall plants and vines in places where they will not invade your neighbour’s plot.
  16. Do not smoke, chew tobacco, or use drugs or alcohol in the garden site.
  17. Report theft, damage, and odd activities to the garden committee.
  18. Remove all dead plants and materials (string, wire, wood, metal, plastic, etc.) by November and dispose of them properly in either compost or in garbage pails.
  19. Do not throw any non-organic items behind the greenhouse or down the hill.
  20. The greenhouse is private. Please do not enter without permission.
